Une semaine de ma vie...

And what a week it had been.
Time flew so fast that before you knew it, one week had gone by just like that. I know how cliched that sounds; I have to admit even that scares me sometimes - the speed of time - how you fear not doing enough; how you fear letting time pass just like that, so swiftly that you wonder where it went or whether you missed out on anything just because you weren't paying attention.
At the very least, I can claim to have finally finished the website today; how relieved I was for that to be over. Will be waiting for it to be uploaded to the school's web server and perhaps I'll give the URL. :)
Some have asked, how was week 1 of school? A prof (to remain unnamed) certainly made my first day turn out badly, making me rant and rave over his arcane methods of lecturing. I shall remain positive, however, and pray tomorrow's class will turn out much better; that perhaps it was just me.
My other classes have turned out great thus far, enjoyable with engaging profs and friendly classmates. Am glad that I didn't let my preconceptions get in my way, for one prof turned out to be almost excellent in his teaching, complete with quotable quotes throughout the class, providing the small class with some entertainment, or rather, we were the ones who were amused. It certainly taught me to give people a chance before we've experienced them, in this case, the profs, no matter what stereotypes and prejudices have surfaced. All in all, I'm hopeful that I will not be extremely bored/lonely/lagging behind/die/fall asleep because it's an 0830 class/slack this term.
Am I glad I'm one hell of an optimist.

TERM 1 AY 2005-2006

It's the end
of the wonderful summer I had.
Of colourful, warm, vibrant memories
whilst I soak with glee
in the bright sunshine of summer.
To you,
I bid adieu.

Convocation 2005 - Went pretty smoothly, took some photos with fellow mates. Any more of these formal events requiring closed-toe shoes will result in total disfiguration of my poor toes/feet. Many thanks to Felix who rescued me with two plasters from Watsons which managed to somewhat alleviate the damage done, emerging relatively unscathed with two blisters. Whoopee. :)

For you SMU blur kings/queens, school starts tomorrow! Please don't forget to bring your matric card; all hell will break loose if you do. Or worse, you'll be unable to go to class/get discounts at Kopitiam/trapped in basement/level one unable to enter school/lifts. At least have a friend who has a matric card ok?

[This part of the post has been lost by Blogger. I wrote an entire paragraph on school all gone. GAHHHHHH.]

Attempting to rewrite what's been erased or rather, what's remembered, my poor memory fails me unfortunately. All I can say is, with the new campus, I feel like a freshman all over, yet to discover the secrets of the school ie. shortcuts to classrooms/eating places, most spacious/comfortable/sunny/conducive GSR, photogenic spots around school etc. A freshie I may seem to be, albeit not as bright-eyed as before.

I am, after all, a sophomore. :)

To Gracia, Sandeep and Paul: I'll see you guys during class tomorrow! Here's to a another term filled with boredom, bitching, surreptitious chit-chat sessions during class, long project meetings, tests ie. school. :)

The Little Things that Caught My Eye

An eye, an eye, not for another eye.

Lovely clouds that adorned the lovely sky

Estranged Birds - Maybe they had an argument, as all couples are prone to have.

Photo of the Day

Tribute to K - Taking a respite from food photography; It just came to my mind that I've a NumLk on my laptop's keys and I don't have to use the linear number keys to key in numbers. To think I was complaining (to myself) about the lack of a specially designated area for numbers equivalent to a telephone keypad, as all PCs' keyboards normally do. *sigh*BIMBO*sigh*. Oh well, we all learn new things everyday. :)

Photo of the Day

Gorgeous looking barbecued/baked/roasted/k I've no idea what she did to them but it's definitely not fried chicken. :) Courtesy of Adila's mom. I think I'm beginning to find a new passion - taking photographs of food nowadays and posting them up on my blog in the wee hours of the morning. What makes it worse is that my brain begins to recreate the aroma of this delicious food, thus making me 'smell' through the pictures. I could 'taste' the cheesecake; now my tastebuds are craving for these drumlets. Before long, I'll be dreaming about having a sumptuous 5-star hotel buffet. Not that it would be the first time; the dream, that is. Damn these powerful cognitive mechanisms!

Of Bliss and Rejoice

Vivid colours come alive,
bees a-buzzing in a hive;
In a second he slows down,
lips a-smiling with you around.
You'd be elated too if you've finally finished something on your To Do list. :) Project Pilot's over! Had to rack my brains of how to make my concept and footages work within the theme of living life before I finally came up with a twist in the ending. But oh well, wish me luck alright?
Meanwhile, I shall now go on to finishing 2 things that are long overdue! The websites and horror film.. yes yes. They're 80% done. Hopefully, they'll be finished by this week. :) Because you know what, school starts next week!
*cheers and throws confetti all over the room*
My new academic year resolution is....
*drumrolls*
Not to take cab to school anymore! Or anywhere else, for that matter. :P Public transport's the way to go, you hear me? Cheap, public transport. Bus & MRT. Although last I read, with the fee hikes and all, public transport's not getting very affordable anymore. Oh drats, I forgot to give my father my EZ-link card to top it up.
Ooh, I've just gotten a blue Project Pilot T-shirt, courtesy of my father who submitted my video for me. Anyway, people, it's not too late to submit your entry too! You have till noon tomorrow! :)
Just make sure it shows "how you LIVE LIFE in a fun, inventive way".
Pfft.

You know something is wrong when you're posting photos of cakes on your blog at 6 am in the morning. Anyway, Pure Cheese Cake from Bonjour - yummy despite the fact that I thought it had more butter than cheese in it. :)

Is yodelling bad for your throat?

Alrites,
It was quite an experience interviewing the applicants for Campus Tour Guides, especially when you're interviewing with Mr. Ben Xie (Horrible la you! Hehe kidding). Stay nice alright, you SMU peeps. :)
Met up with Joshua, Alice and Yvette for dinner before the interviews. Decided to be lazy yet clever by taking bus to school from Dhoby Ghaut. (eh walking to school quite far ok! Plus I've concession... Plus I was wearing heels... Plus I was getting quite late for the interviews. K the latter was a lie la. But still, you guys get what I mean rite??) :P This is notwithstanding the fact that it was only today I kind of realised that I can take bus to school from Dhoby Ghaut instead of walking. Hey hey, better late than never ok? Or better still, we all learn new things every day. Ahh. :)
I feel so insipid writing about this. Or better still, jejune. Wahhhh. I've never heard of such a word.
“and there pour forth jejune words and useless empty phrases”
--Anthony Trollope
Oh dear. That completely describes my entries. *attempts to look sad*
What shall I do?

Yesterday's musings; today's news

Whisper goodbye you did,
A sweet summer's scent inhaled,
To close upon the heavy lid,
All the people you once regaled.

Currently waiting for Manhunt to start. I'll feel like a fool if it turns out there's no Manhunt because

a) it has finished its season.
b) it has been postponed for some NDP pre-show nonsense or whatever C5 decides to show.

Why in the world did I not watch it when it was showing on cable?!

For my NUS mates, you guys will be ecstatic to know that I've actually started on editing the film. But Project Pilot comes first ok? Then I'll get down to finishing that horror film you guys have been waiting for the cows to come home for. :)

Rejoice! Just saw the ad for manhunt. There's going to be manhunt tonight. *beams*

What else do I have to say? Hmmm, nothing much, except that the next two nights are booked with helping out at the interviews for Campus Tour Guides and interviewing the applicants. Hope the city campus looks good at night!

Alright, off to watch Manhunt!

What are u doing watching TV when you've websites to do?

TSK.

Are You Colour Blind?

Came across this article, Are You Colour Blind?

This got me thinking about colour blind photographers too. Nonetheless, I am grateful that my eyes are able to enjoy the beautiful sights and colours of nature. :)

Go Macro

I have discovered the wonderful world of macro photography, all thanks to Gracia. Realised what I've been missing out all this while. This comes after she teaches me to press Ctrl + K after every name in outlook early in the year. You'd feel insulted when a bimbo calls you a bimbo; I still love Gracia. Can't wait to go on a photo trail with you. :)

Gracia, I want my gorgeous macro shots! Give them to me!

Pre-SMUve - The Morning Before

Lovely sky greeted me in the morning.

Rainbow in my school

My favourite school :)

Five Stars Arising - Literally.

Pre-SMUve -- My dreary morning rehearsal was brightened up by these balloons. Never seen so many colourful balloons in my entire life. Pink, green, red, purple, orange and more; all in the hundreds. :)

Another summer day, has come and gone away

What a weekend it had been. :)
With 6 hours of sleep in total, you can bet the weekend was pretty eventful. Had lots and lots of fun and took lots and lots of photos, albeit sunburnt and tired.
Thanks to Aliya who accompanied me to see fireworks during NDP rehearsal on Saturday, where we ooh-ed and aah-ed each time those colourful fireworks were released, trying to guess whether there'd be more each time they finished a set and ended up being genuinely surprised when we did get more; me trying to take shots of them fireworks and ended up taking nonsense, depending on one's perspective. Thank goodness we had that photographer who had situated himself at a prime spot, all ready for the fireworks. Utterly impressive and provided us much fodder for chit-chat during that time. :)
Closing Time had fun written all over it. :) Sandeep and Ridz were big bullies as usual. Kidding. :) Thanks to Provost who tried to joke in front of everyone by saying I was from NTU/using an NTU coupon and trying to claim the SMUve T-shirt that was already claimed. (In actual fact, I was getting the polo-tee, not the SMUve T-shirt.) At least I didn't stage a drama Firdaus and Putra did at the T-shirt Collection Centre when they attempted courageously, and dramatically, to procure a SMUve T-shirt with an already stamped coupon. Hilarious friends, they are. :)
SMUve. So so so grand! With all those balloons and confetti and colours, waking up early in the morning was certainly worth it. Pity I didn't have my camera with me; ended up assigned to be host to the VIPs instead of being a flagbearer. Provost certainly made us smile; I felt bad for not warning him about the possible dangers of the uneven ground. Twice he tripped - once on the grass and another on a cone that was blocking his path. Do be careful next time, Sir?
Vivace. I got to take photos with my favourite Blood Buddy, Paul! Sooo cute. As I'd told him earlier, it was a wonder he didn't get concussed getting knocked around by everyone whilst dressed as an adorable, huggable blood drop. Now Paul, it's not every day you get to hear me say that about you! *grin* Sandeep, Ridz and Sharifah were good company to have - yes Sharifah, think of all those baby squids that never got to be adult squids! And who can forget Sandeep's lousy attempt at archery; his bows preferred the wall to the target. :D Met plenty of juniors as well as juniors who were once seniors - you poor guys who had to answer the call of the nation; Welcome to SMU!
Going to take quite an effort and some time to sort through those photos I'd taken during the weekend; Going to take my well-deserved sleep before I do all that.
Happy 1st August! :)
